Must read for first time entrepreneurs

As the title suggests, this is an excellent book for those venturing out into the "start-up" world for the first time. The author provides step-by-step guidelines on how one should go about the process of creating a successful business out of a new product idea. Beginning with the evaluation of the business feasibility of the idea, building a team with the right people and skills, funding issues, and finally launching the product, this book explains these topics in the right amount of details and with very good, relevant and realistic examples. The examples are technical in nature and as the title suggests, this book will be a lot more interesting to those with a technical background. On the other hand, the basic thought process to start a new business as described in the book is relevant to entrepreneurs with all backgrounds. The book is written in a very easy to understand, down to earth style and will certainly prove to be very helpful to the budding entrepreneurs.

"Georgia Peach" was a wickedly, hart-stopping fun read. I especially enjoyed the growth development of Georgia. In the beginning she was pinning for her cheating ex. Along way she met someone he showed her that love can come at any age. Furthermore I loved her inter-action with her daughters.

Gracie was trip. Even though she to got a happy ending I was pissed. I felt her long suffering husband deserve better. As for Kennie I love her take charge personality.

Wow, wow,wow!!

What can i say? Ask and its given! I was only saying to myself the other day how good it would be to find a book on a "fictional" basis that would give me same teachings on the Law of attraction as do the all the other books on the market. i walked into our local department store and there it was, "Sara Book 2" staring at me.I felt compelled to buy it even though i don't like reading a book if i havn't read the first to the sequel.It took me one day to read it and i was so grateful to the universe and E & J Hicks and Abraham for bringing me the book i asked for. Even though i have read so many books and watched so many dvds on the subject, this book was the most profound because its so real and obvious when you read it in a real life context. Everyone can relate to it and no matter what age you are. i've just ordered 3 copies of "sara book 1' as i'm certain it will be just as brilliant,inspiring, and wonderful as "sara book 2".Do yourself a favour and read it and give it your children. If i had a book like this to read when i was growing up, my life would have been SO different. Thank you

Excellent examples

I love the way Esther and Larry Hicks clearly explain how to create good feelings and hold onto them. By using a series of events they describe good and bad events with ways a. Conscious focus on what is wanted and the good can impact lives for the better. I liked these books better than the adult ones!

Wonderful!!!!

I have read all three of the Sara Books, they are amazing...and really fun to read. I can't tell you how disappointed I was to finish the third one--because so far, there is no fourth one! (But, I am certain that the Law of Attraction is taking care of that! ha-ha!) If you have children, these are incredible books for them to read, but to the adults--you will feel like a kid again when you read them yourself! Highly recommend these! I'd give the series more than 5 stars if it was possible to do it!

Divine Comedy

This is a fantastic edition of the Inferno. It is the 1st time I've ever read the Divine Comedy besides excerpts attempting to ape the terza rima. While such exerpts are gratifying the way a 3rd generation video tape of a movie may be, it is far more fullfilling to read a 'literal' representation of the Italian text in English and then frame that within the borders of the original Italian. Singleton's notes are also exceptional and lead to a very complex reading of the text. In short, for someone who cannot speak a word of Italian but wants to have the richest reading of the text, from language to content to the culture the poem draws upon, this is the text to purchase. When I complete the Inferno I plan to complete the rest of the Dante's masterpiece with Singleton holding my hand.

CHARLES SINGLETON's translation of Divine Comedy

I capitalize CHARLES SINGLETON because amazon.com pile their customer reviews into one long list, admitting no differences between translations. SINGLETON's very literal prose best serves the reader who would read the original Italian, and clarify his reading by referring to the facing English translation. You needn't have studied Italian for this, though some skill in another Romance language is very helpful. But if you insist on getting your terza rima secondhand, read Pinsky's Inferno(Pinsky has yet to bring over the Purgatorio and Paradiso).

"Midway upon the journey of our life, I found myself in a dark wood, where the right way was lost..." Those eerie words open the first cantica of Dante Alighieri's "Inferno," the most famous part of the legendary Divina Comedia. But the stuff going on here is anything but divine, as Dante explores the metaphorical and supernatural horrors of the inferno.

The date is Good Friday of the year 1300, and Dante is lost in a creepy dark forest, being assaulted by a trio of beasts who symbolize his own sins. But suddenly he is rescued ("Not man; man I once was") by the legendary poet Virgil, who takes the despondent Dante under his wing -- and down into Hell.

But this isn't a straightforward hell of flames and dancing devils. Instead, it's a multi-tiered carnival of horrors, where different sins are punished with different means. Opportunists are forever stung by insects, the lustful are trapped in a storm, the greedy are forced to battle against each other, and the violent lie in a river of boiling blood, are transformed into thorn bushes, and are trapped on a volcanic desert.

If nothing else makes you feel like being good, then "The Inferno" might change your mind. The author loads up his "Inferno" with every kind of disgusting, grotesque punishment that you can imagine -- and it's all wrapped up in an allegorical journey of humankind's redemption, not to mention dissing the politics of Italy and Florence.

Along with Virgil -- author of the "Aeneid" -- Dante peppered his Inferno with Greek myth and symbolism. Like the Greek underworld, different punishments await different sins; what's more, there are also appearances by harpies, centaurs, Cerberus and the god Pluto. But the sinners are mostly Dante's contemporaries, from corrupt popes to soldiers.

And Dante's skill as a writer can't be denied -- the grotesque punishments are enough to make your skin crawl ("Fixed in the slime, they say, 'Sullen were we in the sweet air that is gladdened by the Sun, bearing within ourselves the sluggish fume; now we are sullen in the black mire...'"), and the grand finale is Satan himself, with legendary traitors Brutus, Cassius and Judas sitting in his mouths. (Yes, I said MOUTHS, not "mouth")

More impressive still is his ability to weave the poetry out of symbolism and allegory, without it ever seeming preachy or annoying. Even pre-hell, we have a lion, a leopard and a wolf, which symbolize different sins, and a dark forest that indicates suicidal thoughts. And the punishments themselves usually reflect the person's flaws, such as false prophets having their heads twisted around so they can only see what's behind them. Wicked sense of humor.

Dante's vivid writing and wildly imaginative "inferno" makes this the most fascinating, compelling volume of the Divine Comedy. Never fun, but always spellbinding and complicated.

a great overview

This book provides an insightful and practical first look at the complex science of bolting. I found the first half of the book to be quite practical in familiarizing the reader with concepts that would be developed further in later sections. The author does a good job in giving the reader a look at several types of different design techniques, including the ones outlined by the german engineering society VDI. The book gives solid outlines to various design processes, but is not a textbook to tell you exactly how to design every joint. The reason for this is that bolted joints are extremely complex mechanical systems that are often simplified by quite conservative codified procedures. If the reader is looking for those codified design procedures, purchase books by the PVRC, ASME, etc. instead, but know that this book gives a wider perspective of the entire design process.

Bickford is the man.

Having read several books on the bolted joint, let me say that Bickford is the man. He's the father of bolted joint study. Don't waste your money on his other book which is a selection articles, this is the one to get.

I give it 4/5 because it is very light on shear joints and could be written in a more concise manner. Also, to fully understand bolted joints, the IFI Inch Fasteners Standards book is also needed.

Otherwise a totally solid intro to the bolted joint.

A Must For Design Engineers

This book covers all the fundamental issues related to bolts and bolted joints. It is very easy to read, and does not go too deeply into technical subjects, but gives the reader a full appreciation for the issues involved. As a materials engineer I appreciated the section on bolting materials. As a design engineer, I found the sections on designing bolted joints very helpful. As Plato expressed long ago, the wiser you are, the less you realize you know. After reading this book, design engineers not familiar with all the issues will likely not take bolts and bolted joints for granted.

About the Author

Good book. When Tessa's pregnancy resulted in the loss of her job, she was left with no income and no insurance. With a mountain of bills resulting from her high risk pregnancy and the certainty that her firing had been unfair at the least, Tessa felt she had no option but to sue the company. Her lawyer wants more than just a quiet settlement, she thinks the company should be made an example of, so the case will be going to trial.

Dragan has worked hard to build the company and prides himself on running a good business. He wants to know if this is a case of someone out for all she can get, or if she really was wronged. Since their lawyers won't let him talk to her directly he comes up with a plan to get her to himself for a few hours so that he can get her side of the story. He doesn't expect her to have her twin girls with her, or that a malfunction with his plane will strand them for several days at his remote Alaskan lodge.

Overall, I liked Dragan. He really just wants a chance to get at the truth without a bunch of legal wrangling. He's a little cynical about peoples' motives, but that's not too surprising considering the world the way that it is. He does have a reputation of being cold and emotionless, and that's easy to see in his first reactions to the twins, though he certainly isn't cold when it comes to Tessa. He's attracted to her from the moment he sees her, even though he knows it would be a bad idea to act on it.

I liked Tessa also. She hasn't had an easy time of it, and all she really wants is justice. When she's offered a lift in the good looking stranger's plane, she's cautious but she needs to make it to her destination in time for the trial. She's attracted to him, but his less than pleasant attitude about her children puts her off. It isn't until partway through the flight that she recognizes her "savior" and then she's furious. She believes that he's kidnapped her to keep her away from the trial.

When the plane trouble happens, they call a truce. Tessa knows that their lives depend on his skills. Once they are safely down, they have to find a way to coexist until they are rescued. I really liked seeing the way that their close proximity slowly brought down their barriers. The attraction and passion between them was great, but even more I liked the way that they were able to share their pasts. My favorite thing was seeing Dragan become more comfortable around the children. He had been a teen growing up in Sarajevo during the war, and the things that he experienced had caused him to avoid getting close to anyone ever since. It was fun to see the way that the little girls started to melt the ice around his heart. I also liked seeing how Tessa's attitude toward him softened the more she learned about him. She still had a few instances of questioning his motives, but for the most part she really came to trust him. When one of the girls gets sick, Dragan's fear of history repeating itself is hard to see, but he handles it all well. It isn't until rescue comes and they have to part that he realizes just how big a change they have brought to his life. The question becomes if there is anything he can do to make that change permanent.

I loved the conclusion and how Dragan took what he knew about Tessa and looked into what really happened. I was not surprised by what he found out. I had my doubts about Tessa's lawyer until the very end, but what she did really redeemed her in my eyes. I loved his big moment at the end and how he convinced Tessa of his feelings. The epilogue was fantastic.

I really enjoyed this book. The twin girls Maddie, and Missy was the stars of this story. The girls were just learning how to walk. Tessa was a great mom, but her daughter Maddie was a little escape artist. I loved the part where Tessa was feeding the girls spaghetti, that part had me laughing. It was nice to read a light book with very little drama.

Tessa got fired from her job because she was pregnant. She was left with no income, and no health insurance. The worry caused Tessa to go into early labor. The girls had to stay in the hospital for a long time, fighting to live. The hospital bills piled up. She had no choice but to go after the company that caused her so much grief. She wanted her day in court.

Dragan was the president of the company. His legal team advised him to meet her in person, and find out more about her. He had a hand in canceling her flight, so he could offer to fly her, himself in his plane. There was no way he could have predicted that his plane would malfunction, and they would have to make an emergency landing. Tessa, and her twin girls was stranded in a cabin with Dragan. She was so mad when she found out who he was. After her anger dissipated, she knew she had to at least try to get along with him. With the snow storm, they didn't know how long they had to stay there until help arrived. It was Alaska, and plane's didn't fly in snow storms. Dragan started off being cold, because of the pain he faced in his past. In the end the twins won him over. There were several moments that had me laughing along the way. The relationship between Tessa, and Dragan started off very rocky, then grew into friendship, and then something much more. There were several people that reviewed this book that didn't care for it. I on the other hand really loved this book.

A romance novel is supposed to be fantasy/fiction, and this was. Tessa is suing her former employer for discrimination and Dragon owns the company. He, in essence, kidnaps her though it wasn't planned. His intention is to get her side of the story until his private plane (that he flies) needs to land in an emergency right near his cabin out in no where.

The most entertaining part of the book is Dragon's reaction to the twins. He does not like children and makes it known, yet he ends up helping out with their care while they're secluded.

Tessa's lawyer is obviously modeled after Gloria Allred and it would have been a much better ending if she'd have been put in her place. Tessa comes across as very weak, so not my ideal for a romance heroine. She let her lawyer drag her around like a puppy. She didn't want to go through with the lawsuit and should have stood her ground.

A good short read. Sexual encounter(s) didn't make sense for the story, but this was a romance novel.
