A different choice would be better.

This book has no accompanying audio files of the riffs. Therefore, there is no way to know exactly how each riff was meant to sound with all of it's non notable idiosyncrasies. Sure, you can read the notation and play it, but that is as close as you will get. Buy a book with accompanying audio files.

Facsimile copy but very readable

This is one of just a handful of rare books that exist on Vedic Sanskrit grammar. This book is a companion version of the book "Sanskrit Grammar for Students" by the same author that describes Classical Sanskrit grammar. Every section in the Vedic book references the corresponding section in the Classical book, explaining and highlighting only the Vedic specific grammar/usage. The assumption is that the reader is already familiar with the classical usage found in the companion book, so you need to buy that book to refer to really understand this book.

This book (Vedic grammar) is a scanned facsimile copy of some old library book and has many marks, writings, side notes, stampings, etc. typical in library books. I guess the publishers could have erased the marks after scanning, but they didn't do it. The font is huge and the print is clear, so the marks don't affect the readability, just the aesthetics. One other thing, the Sanskrit text is not in Devanagari font but in transliterated Roman font, unlike the companion book which uses the Devanagari font for Sanskrit text.

Overall a very useful and lucid book that walks you step-by-step through the intricacies of Vedic Sanskrit grammar. Such books were always a rare find, and more so nowadays.

hard to believe it's the abridged version

The author explains that, while the intended audience is the Vedic student, it is appropriate to know basic Sanskrit first. I don't but intend to. Nonetheless, I've found it tremendously helpful with pronunciation and grasping some of the nuances of the allegoric literature. Although a more extensive edition exists, the information in this one is massive and cogently organized. The order arrived within days.

I did not expect such a mediocre presentation of Philippine cuisine .For such a prize I would really like to return the book for a less pretentious cuisine presentation.With the collaboration of the sso-called chefs, I will be embarassed to invite them again to be included to a book specially to represent a cuisine of any country.Sorry It must really be a 2 star rating but for the colored pictures I give it an extra star, but not for the recipe content.

Essential For Anyone Interested In Astrology

Allow me to preface this review by saying you do not need to be a practitioner of jyotish to LOVE this book. As unbelievable as that sounds for a book about a practice so dauntingly complex, I remain confident that this book will hook anyone even slightly interested in astrology within the first few pages. Let me also say that the information presented within this book is NOT limited to sidereal astrology at ALL. I would recommend this book to any practitioner of Western astrology and I'm positive that practitioners and non practitioners alike will walk away from this book with incredible revelations. If you have any interest in the art of astrology, this book is for you.

I have been a student of Jyotish for several years. The subject has not been heavily written about in the West and I have found much of the information available to be misleading or just totally incorrect. Many translations of Indian books aren't much better. The valuable books I've read about jyotish mostly read like text books, which is fine, but I can't say that I really "enjoyed" reading them. "Special Topics in Vedic Astrology" is truly an exception.

This tiny book is positively brimming with the gems I've searched through eight hundred page tomes for(often fruitlessly). Every single page contained information that felt effortlessly comprehensible, totally intriguing, and divinely inspired. Although I'm sure this book was meant as a treatise on some aspects of vedic astrology, I found that description to be very bland in describing my experience while reading the book, as this is the work of someone who is both a storyteller and a pundit.

Undoubtably the muse of astrology lives within this book. I cannot say that about any other book I have ever encountered. I believe I will be rediscovering its teachings long after the next installment is available. Thank you very much to those who made it available.

In this series of vignettes on special topics in Vedic Astrology, the author takes us on a delightful tour of the common and less than-common attractions of this vedic art & science. Like a buffet of fit-in-your hand delectables from around the world, it allows us to sample the tasty morsels that make Jyotisha such a rich and complex tradition. For examples, sections on "Yogas of Spiritual Intensity" or combinations for "Skill and Dexterity in Jyotisha" introduce topics unique to Vedic Astrology- and ones that are not taught in your 'by-the-numbers' textbooks. It takes years of study with masters in the craft to learn the recipes that the author has freely shared with us. Indispensable for students and aficionados of Jyotisha, along with Light on Life by Hart de Fouw.

Peter K. Enns is Associate Professor in the Department of Government at Cornell University and he is the Executive Director of the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research. He is a former Faculty Director of Cornell's Prison Education Program. About the Author
KRISTEN JOHNSTON is an actress, a teacher, and now, an enormously celebrated writer. Johnston is one of the founding executive directors of SLAM, a board dedicated to creating New York City's first sobriety-focused high school. She lives in NYC with her pit bull Pinky, who suffers from a food addiction.

Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Mike Johnston has had a long and notable career coaching hockey, including coaching and assistant coaching for the Vancouver Canucks in 1999, Canada's National Men's Team, the Canada Selects, Canada's 1998 Winter Olympics team, Canada's junior team, Team Canada at the World Championships from 1995 to 1998 and again in 2007 as well as the University of New Brunswick men's Varsity Reds hockey team, where he was 1994 coach of the year. Mike was an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Kings from 2006 to 2008 and is currently the head coach and general manager of the WHL's Portland Winter Hawks.

Great Condition, but Book Pics Need to be Updated

I really like this book. It breaks everything down and includes all the basic techniques you need to start as an IV tech. The pictures of people and equipment need to be updated since they look like they were from the 80s or early 90s and some of the pictures showing techniques don't really give enough detail (i.e. a before and after picture with no inbetween about how to get to the after). Other than that, the book was awesome and delivered in excellent condition.

Any pharmacy technician who aspire to work at inpatient pharmacy ...

Any pharmacy technician who aspire to work at inpatient pharmacy in hospital or home care pharmacy should understand every detail in this book. The important of septic technique can not be over emphasizer. Anyone familiar with Emily Law with know sterile procedure in not a playing issue in pharmacy.
